It started with one girl, then 10, then 50. Today, we have sponsored over 500 girls for secondary school education.
To celebrate the success of those 500 girls and to pledge our support for the next 500, five riders have taken on the challenge of cycling 100 km in one day for a total of 500 km.
Your support of a rider or the team will enable girls to succeed, even thrive in secondary school, creating a world of potential for girls and women in Longido District, Tanzania. Each pedal stroke is a step towards a brighter future, and your sponsorship helps turn the wheels of change.
100% of the funds raised in the TEMBO 500 will go to the academic support programs for the girls of Longido. Right now, funds are urgently needed to ensure that TEMBO English Camp (TEC) will run this June, that Primary and Secondary Success (PASS) will run this fall. The funds ensure that the girls have a safe place to stay, have nutritious meals, and have the tutoring that makes the difference between attending school and thriving at school.

Parallel Challenges
Groups and individuals across Canada are supporting the women and girls in Longido.
Vancouver, British Columbia
Hashim Kareemi is cycling 100 kilometres through downtown Vancouver to Richmond.
Perth, Ontario
Jack Tannett and David Batchelor have taken on the TEMBO Challenge. From April 15th – June 1st, they will walk or cycle for 500 minutes on some of their favourite routes and trails in and around their home town of Perth, Ontario.
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
On March 25, students and staff of Algoma University cycled a total of 872 km, well past their goal of 500 km, with Maria Coccimiglio, Ben Warnock, Mark Jobst, and Darshan each cycling 100 km. They raised a total of $900 as a parallel TEMBO Challenge. Thank you Algoma for supporting girls’ education!
