Our new tagline – Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow – reflects the journey of the women and girls supported by TEMBO. It is seen in girls like Siletian, a Form 1 student just beginning her secondary school education—organizing her books, finding her voice, and stepping into new possibilities. And it lives in women like Nasinyari, who has completed university and now looks ahead with confidence, ready to shape her future and give back to her community.
Literacy is the foundation of education and an essential skill for everyday life. Without basic literacy and numeracy, it is difficult to understand health information, read community notices, or count money when operating a small business. TEMBO addresses this need for the women in Longido District through weekly community-based literacy lessons.
At just 13, Nyekonde came to TEMBO with the dream of completing her education. Today, that dream has come true—she’s back in Longido, standing at the front of the classroom, inspiring girls to believe in their own bright futures.
Ninai always wanted to be a teacher. Sara dreamed of becoming a leader in her village. Read more about these two girls who are pursuing their dreams as they complete their post-secondary education.
Imagine the excitement—and perhaps some apprehension—felt by 45 young girls as they begin their studies at secondary school. For many in Longido District, this marks the fulfillment of a cherished dream.
