TEMBO congratulates the work of our local staff in Tanzania in securing a one-year grant from the Mennonite Central Committee.
This 10K grant will help TEMBO Trust expand its effort to educate village leaders and community members about the effects of female genital mutilation. When asked about the potential impact of the grant, Executive Director Paulina Sumayani replied: “Young girls and women will be empowered, valued and their rights will be respected in the community.” This news came to us from our TEMBO staff just as the WHO announced new guidelines on FGM that aim to help health workers provide better care to the more than 200 million girls and women worldwide living with female genital mutilation.
