Born to be a leader

In 2019, Hannah joined TEMBO’s PASS program and was bestowed the Leadership Award for her work and exemplary leadership skills with the other girls. That’s why it’s no surprise that she went on to become a Dormitory Prefect in Form 1, then General Prefect, and then Head Girl at Tinga Tinga Secondary School by Form 3.

“When you are a prefect, teachers will listen to you,” she said. “All the prefects try to work together to share with the teachers some of the problems at school like broken windows, lack of soap for cleaning, etc. I think I am most proud of our efforts to ask the school for a student library. And now, today, we have one.”

This year, Hannah is back at school and ready to take on Form 4. She’ll be relieved of her duties as Head Girl so that she can focus on her studies for the national exams at the end of the year. Fortunately, Hannah and her classmates can now benefit from an ideal place to study: their new school library.
